Nintendo GameCube

Nintendo · 2001

The Nintendo GameCube was my first console. I know that nostalgia is one hell of a drug, but it will always be my favorite console because it brings me closer to 2004 — when I was playing GameCube with my Mom and still learning how to read.

Espeon and Umbreon are my favorite Pokémon because of Pokémon Colosseum. I love Kirby Air Ride and Mario Kart: Double Dash. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life is so much fun and makes me want to live on a remote farm and settle down.

I probably played way too much GameCube for someone that age. But I learned to read from it and my Game Boy Advance SP, and it wasn't connected to the internet — it was designed for kids. Addictive, yes, but at least I was problem solving and enjoying it. I'm quite happy with how I turned out. My Mom was good at knowing what wasn't that big of a deal, but also had strict limits.

I have a GameCube now, and I leave it in the student main lounge for students to use. I trust them. They are good kids. Either way, the next generation of kids deserves to see some of the older technology — what led to what we have now.

I'll write more about the GameCube soon.
